Famous Women Photographers...
and Lauren Bentley

Maybe not a Famous Women Photographer yet...
But watch this space!

(There will be more on the really Famous Women Photographers
Like Ellen von Unwerth, Helmut Newton, and Bettina Rheims
Soon, on My-pin-up-girl.com)

This page is for Lauren Bentley...from Brooklyn, New York...and all the other Famous Women Photographers in the world!

Mike Fiction (photographer) said this about Lauren:"Lauren is a devastating talent. Each photo is a work of art - always provocative and beautiful."

For me(Wimma)...her photography is absolutely wonderful...I consider her to be one of the famous women photographers, and that's why I am dedicating this web-page to her.

She is amazingly talented, creative, courageous, and fearless...and on top of that...she is young, ambitious, and gorgeously beautiful.

Toshihiro Oshima (photographer) says:"a genuine Superstar! She is the Trinity of Skill, Beauty and Vision.Bravo Lauren!"

All the wonderful and inspirational images on this page, have been created by Lauren Bentley, and should not be used without her express written permission.

(Please note that the images on this page, have been re-sized (with Photoshop CS2) to fit the requirements of my-pin-up-girl.com)

Prints of Lauren's original HIGH RESOLUTION work can be purchased via her website, over here...laurenbentleyphotography.com (CLICK HERE TO GO THERE)

Lauren writes the following on her website:

"As a photographer, my cinematic background has led me to see the world as a series of narrative moments. While creating images that often evoke a sense of nostalgia, I strive to capture the drama, mystery, emotion and enchantment of the world around me.By wrapping my reality within these ideas, my photographs become memories I've never had."

On Flickr, she writes:

"for all those who think some place is better than some place. for all those who can't let go of something that never belonged to them. for all those who have never belonged. for all those who can't sleep at night. for all those who live to dream. for all those who reach for their hearts in sleep. for all those who reach and find nothing. for all those who deny that they shiver. for all those who don't. for all those who have ever tried to inhale and simultaneously hum. for all those who say don't quit your day job. for all those who love to remember. for all those who can't help but forget. for all those who think they're good at what they do. for all those who are. for all those who have attempted to do pushups while standing on their head. for all those who will never try. for all those who have ever said one thing and meant another. for all those with good intentions. for all those who hope to find love.for all those who have. for all those who never learned to whistle. for all those who don't care. for those who have dreamt they could fly and for those who can...."

Excellent and Famous Women Photographers are a bit of a rare breed but I think Lauren Bentley's images have many (if not all) the required aspects to them, but the ones that stand out most, (...for me anyway...)

is ...first and foremost...her special ability to create Powerful, Soulful, and very Sexy images of herself. (She is a Master in the art of Self-Portraits).

Secondly...Structures, Architecture, and "Things with Feathers" are important to her.(Have a look at her wonderful images of birds and structures, on her site.)

But she can do something else that is quite remarkable: She can make photographic images, (pin-ups) which are as good as the great paintings of GIL ELVGREN (CLICK HERE), of years gone by.

And that's quite something!...

I know a few incredible, and soon to be very famous women photographers...and Lauren Bentley is one of them!

Vania Barbieri (photographer) writes this about Lauren:"She is the sexiest most talented photographer! Her pictures manage to recount a mysterious story, a hidden secret, something you could only see through a peephole. Getting lost in One of Lauren's photographs is like a watching a movie with twist and turns ups and downs love and conflicts, she truly is an artist."

When I asked this famous women photographer about her favorite cameras, lenses, software and artists, this was her reply...exactly the way she wrote it...

"Hi Wimpie...

1. favorite camera - so hard to choose! probably my polaroid sx-70 or my super ikonta IV. realistically, i endup shooting with my nikon d300 the majority of the time though. and it's a great camera.

2. favorite lens - probably my nikkor 85mm f/1.4. though i don't use it nearly as often as i'd like.

3. favorite imaging software - photoshop (i'm currently using CS3). i don't really have any experience with other imaging softwares. so it's my favorite by default.

4. favorite artists - there are so many artists whose work i love and am inspired by. just in terms of photographers -lillian bassman, alvin langdon coburn, edward steichen, andre kertesz, Robert ParkeHarrison, and hundreds of other known and lesser known photographers. there are so many brilliant photographers just from sites like Flickr that i've come to really love as well."

From me, and my-pin-up-girl.com: Thank you Lauren Bentley! (Wimma)

A final word about Lauren from a great writer, The Voice of Eye:

"These days - with the advent of affordable, digital technology - it seems too many people feel comfortable calling themselves photographers, simply because they carry the fastest, fattest, and most expensive camera, or two, or three... or four. But really, so few actually understand what it is to be able to recognize, to create, then capture and share the beauty that the person behind the lens sees, experiences, and manages to fit into and immortalize within a frame of both space and time. Lauren Bentley's talent, her skill, her way of seeing herself and the world that surrounds her, have resulted in images that speak to the viewer of humble esteem, tonally rich beauty, and enigmatic sensuality.

Like myself, I sense Lauren is both passionate and curious, an adventurer into light and darkness who experiences catharsis and ecstasy throughout her process of discovery and art-making.I urge you, the viewer, to stay tuned to upcoming episodes from the Cinema Cowgirl..."

Yup!...well said...and as I mentioned earlier: Not a Famous Women Photographer yet, But watch this space!...
